FERRANTE & TEICHER were in deep discussion. The subject was their forthcoming record album and the problem was, “what will we do next?” Finally, Teicher, or maybe it was Ferrante, said, “Why not do some of the songs we love the best, the way we want to play them, and the way our fans seem to respond to them?” It was right then and there that this collection was born. It is aptly and simply entitled “OUR GOLDEN FAVORITES,” and it is indeed a brilliant demonstration of why the partnership of Mr. Ferrante and Mr. Teicher has captured the imagination of record buyers throughout the world for the past decade.
Much as they have done in every previous set, the talented gentlemen began by choosing an impeccable selection of songs, running the gamut from “Grieg’s Piano Concerto” to such hardy evergreens as “Malaguena” and “Temptation,” to the recent “The Impossible Dream” and “A Walk In The Black Forest,” to the teenage favorite, “Alley Cat.” The arrangements were in the traditional FERRANTE AND TEICHER style, soaring and imaginative. Then came the actual performance. They keyboard magic of FERRANTE AND TEICHER — their distinctive sound — their unique approach — has never been more brilliant. And special mention must be made at this time of the magnificent musical arrangements personally supplied by FERRANTE AND TEICHER, and their superb, huge, string-filled melodic orchestra which supplied the icing for the cake and perfectly abetted their artistry.
So here it is — “OUR GOLDEN FAVORITES” by FERRANTE AND TEICHER. The program is perfect. The music is memorable. This album is the latest reason why these great artists rank among our foremost popular instrumentalists and why their wonderful concerts are top boxoffice attractions from coast to coast.
