In 1983, Ferrante & Teicher and Scott W Smith formed Avant-Garde Records Corp.
The duo had previously recorded for 5 major record labels:
Columbia, Westminster, Urania, ABC and United Artists.

Speaking of the formation of Avant-Garde, Ferrante explains:
"Nobody tells you What to record, When to record or How to record.
WE make all of the decisions."

Avant-Garde Records, which devotes itself to Ferrante & Teicher's TWIN-PIANO
stage arrangements without their orchestra, is currently distributed on the
Varese Sarabande Vintage label.
